Video games have now been around for several decades. Here are the ones that have changed the genre in their time, had best scores by critics and who became cult classics over the years.

15 – Super Metroid

Created by Yoshio Sakamoto, Super Metroid is the second installment in the world-famous saga. In this action-adventure game, you will play as Samus Aran, and face the space pirates. A platform game (what made the franchise famous), Super Mario World will send you to Dinosaur Land for once again, fighting Bowser.

Chrono Trigger, this is the very example that shows us that Square Co does not only gave us Final Fantasy. Focusing the principle of its game on time travel, this game will be simply revolutionary for the time, thanks to its multiple endings, or its side quests that could not be more advanced.

 

1 – The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

It was impossible not to put the Zelda franchise on top, as it is some of the best games ever. But since there are many Zelda games in the franchise and we must only mention one, we will leave aside Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask in favor of the very latest episode to date: Breath of the Wild.

It’s not easy to reinvent yourself and revolutionize an entire genre, yet that’s what Zelda Breath of the Wild has managed to do. This episode in open-world offers freedom of movement and action never seen and the richness of its universe is able to carry anyone, whatever its age and its relation to the video games.
